Prayer Topic: Caregivers
Having the role of providing daily care to a loved one who is physically unable to do so many times has an effect that is too often missed by others. The unusual weight of this daily life can affect a person’s outlook such that they may lose hope of any interactions with others and feelings of being alone in their situation. Slow decline in feelings of purpose is a very common psychological characteristic, so lifting their spirit in our words will become an enabler to their well-being. The link at the bottom of this guide titled “5 Things Never to Say to a Caregiver” is an example of how to begin to reverse this sinking feeling.
Possible Things to Pray for:
Verses to Share:
1 Timothy 1:12 NIV - I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him
Isaiah 40:29-31 NLT - He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Matthew 11:28-29 NLT - Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.
